Report and Deposition - Flammable contact adhesive ignited while countertop work was being placed in galley of a shrimp boat. Butane pilot light was burning in close proximity to the flammable adhesive and was cause of ignition.

Trial - Fumes from a fingernail polish in an 8-ounce container did not migrate a long distance to a flaming candle. Careless misuse of the flammable solvent was cause for loss of house, no personal damage. Video demonstrating evaporation rate and non-ignition of the bottle of the finernail polish adjacent to a candle was persuasive evidence.

Outcome

Jury decision within 30 minutes in favor of defendant
